Music for...

Once upon a time, there was a shy little boy growing up in the streets of Hobart, in Tasmania. He spent most of his time circling around in his bedroom studio, dreaming of forming a band and touring the world. Anthony Rochester's room is full of the tender delicate sounds of Burt Bacharach, France Gall, Stereolab, The Carpenters and The Lucksmiths. He plays all instruments on his own and has a new (fourth!) album out called “Hot Hits ’96”. This is not music for librarians, or for relaxation or for spaceships. This is different, yet lovely.

let's scream!

When two smittens hang out in Vermont, something magical happens. Dana Kaplan and Colin Clary don’t like sharing their beds, yet they delve into exquisite bedroom pop. Leaving The Smittens aside for a bit, they call themselves Let's Whisper and they create dreamy melodies which are captured on EP “Make Me Smile” (2008). NEWS is that WeePop! records is about to release their debut album on “giant-sized” cd. Whee!

the history of orange pie

Pies are yummy. I prefer those with cheese and mushrooms and enjoy eating them throughout rainy days. The History of Apple Pie are sunny, yet very delicious! Formed in London as a duo, Jerome Watson (Hatcham Social) and Stephanie Min have cooked up lo-fi shoegazy delicate melodies, inspired by the like of Galaxie 500, Luna, Comet Gain and St. Christopher. Split Cassette Tape (100 copies only) is out November 15th [Side A: four songs from Sweater Girls and Side B: three songs from The History Of Apple Pie]. Couldn’t find a video of them, so guys hurry up and make one!
